Mixed Emotions
In June, I purchased tickets for 600.00 for the November concert. I have been a fan of Madonna since the 80's and thought this might be my final opportunity to see her. In October, an email informed me that the concert time had been changed from 8:30 to 10:30, causing disappointment as I had commitments the following day and, worse still, no refunds were available. Considering reselling my tickets, I discovered they were now only worth half of what I had paid. So, I opted to go ahead and attend.
Finding the venue was simple, and there was ample nearby parking. A great bar/restaurant around the corner offered delicious dishes at reasonable prices. Despite having to secure our phones in a locked pouch, have our bags checked, and undergo a pat-down, entering the venue was swift.
Upon arrival, the warm, humid air immediately began to melt my makeup. With the assistance of an usher, we located our seats, and the concert began at 10:48.
The concert itself was INCREDIBLE! It was more of a theatrical show than a typical concert, with Madonna incorporating a political message, which was expected of her. She performed mostly songs from her Madame X album and just a few of her classic hits that got the crowd on their feet. However, the room's warmth and humidity made it challenging to fully enjoy the experience. My friend and I found ourselves drifting off around 1 am due to the late hour and the room temperature, which seemed to affect many others in the audience, mostly middle-aged individuals unaccustomed to staying up so late. The concert ended near 1:30 am.
Exiting the venue and retrieving our phones was swift and hassle-free, while leaving the parking area was stress-free.
Do I regret going? No. Would I repeat the experience? Perhaps, but for a lower cost and an earlier start time.
